What a journey it has been. What a journey it will be. What excitement I will see.
My name is BB Barnett. My life is everything I have ever dreamed of. I do event production as a way of life. I call myself an artist. From the epic projects I get to build, to lighting design and being a festival solutionary, my life is constantly changing, always on the go, and always exciting.
I recently decided to take on the nomadic lifestyle. I gave up my home and my stable income and started living out of my tent. I found that being tied down to a job I had to maintain, and a home I had to pay for, was keeping from my dreams.
Living off the grid and living the minimalist life was a piece of cake. My struggles were in not having a car, not having branded myself as an artist yet, and not knowing where to start. So I reached out to my community.
So far year one has taken me to Warner Springs CA, just below San Diego. Joshua Tree reservation in Yucca Valley. The Mojave Desert, the Santa Barbara mountains, Ojai California, Blue Mountain Reservation in northern California and so much more. My tent gets to land in some of the most beautiful places in California, and soon I will be traveling to Oregon, Nevada, Colorado, Peru and where ever else my journeys takes me. But it hasn't all been easy. I have so much gratitude to the amazing individuals who have lent me their couches for a couple of nights while I look for more work. With no reliable source of transportation and no security of more work, I am quickly learning how to brand and manage myself as a festival builder/artist. But more importantly I was inspired to find a way to make my nomadic lifestyle more sustainable. Not only economically sustainable for myself, but environmentally conscious as well. I recently realized how much more efficient I could be and how freely I could work and follow my dreams by surviving only off of what I need and nothing more.
In blogs to come, I will be explaining what specifically I'm doing to be more sustainable, sharing lessons I have learned along the way, and sharing my art with all of y'all.
Im surrounded constantly by creativity, magic, kindness, and opportunities for self discovery. And I'm so excited to share my journey with everyone who reads my blog. Thank you in advance for all of the love and support that help keep me blog and my journey alive.
Much love
